My interest arises from the fact that one of my fathres favourite posessions is an old desk, acquired in a Peterborough antique shop; inside one of the drawers is a small brass plaque with the legend: By appointment to the King. Waring & Gillow Ltd. Guaranteed manufactured at their Liverpool factory. It is not worth a lot but we are interested in its general provenance. Does anyone know any more about the factory?
